VEGAS BABY!
Heya Folks!
Let me start off by saying that Vegas was one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE trips. The culture of Vegas is so extremely unique and wonderful, I loved every minute I spent in this desert oasis. You won't find another place on earth with a casino in every building, supermarkets included.(Though I might proudly add that I did not gamble away a dime of my money while in Vegas;)
I stayed in the Venetian while in Vegas for a week, and it was by far my favorite hotel.
I spent much of my time exploring other hotels along the strip and the Venetian topped them all. My favorite part was walking through the gorgeous shopping center, designed to look like a little Italian city, complete with a fake sky, sculpted buildings, and a canal down the center.
While in Vegas I saw Mystere by Cirque Du Soleil, Penn and Teller, and The Blue Man Group. I'll give a mini-review on each below:
Mystere- Mystere was probably my least favorite of the three shows even though it was still AMAZING. It's the oldest Cirque Du Soleil show in Vegas, and because of this, it's a little outdated. I recommend seeing O or Ka instead!
Penn and Teller- These guys were so funny! The Penn and Teller show had to be my favorite of the three, I don't think I stopped laughing for a second. Penn and Teller is a magic show with a twist - they give away their own secrets! And they make plenty of jokes while doing so. Both Penn and Teller also stayed after the show to take pictures and sign autographs for EVERYONE that wanted to. These guys are truly amazing<3
Blue Man Group- This group was constantly upbeat, and although strange at times, it was thoroughly captivating for the duration of the show. The Blue Man Group will show you things you've never before seen and take you on a thrilling ride.
While in Vegas, I also visited the Grand Canyon, Red Rock, and the Hoover Dam.
Grand Canyon- There are no words powerful enough to describe the beauty of the Grand Canyon, it is a breathtaking work of art. There is no way you can go to Vegas without taking a tour of this famous landmark. I went to the rim of the canyon located on an Indian reservation and the experience was fantastic. We were driven from Vegas to the canyon, provided with a meal, and driven back. WARNING- because it's on an Indian reservation there are NO RAILINGS. This is terrifying if you have small children so the other rim may be a better choice for your family. I did buy a coyote, made out of clay from the canyon itself and patterns ingrained using horse hair, from an Indian vendor which was pretty cool, my coyote is sitting on my desk now:)
Red Rock- Red Rock is another beautiful sight you can't miss while visiting Vegas. It's much closer to Vegas than the Grand Canyon is and we were able to rent a car relatively inexpensively for the quick trip. You can climb the beautiful red rock structures with no rhyme or reason, just go where your feet take you, and try not to fall!
Hoover Dam- We only took a few minutes to check out the Hoover Dam on our way to the Grand Canyon, but it was still a very cool sight to see!
One of the craziest places I visited while in Vegas was definitely Fremont street. You may have heard that this is where the crazies hang out, and you'd be right. I saw a few things I'll probably never be able to unsee, but you can't not visit this iconic street while in Vegas.
I would have to say my favorite activity in Vegas was simply strolling up and down the strip checking out all the FREE things Vegas has to offer. You can go into any of the hotels for free and most of them have some crazy attraction you can check out while you're there.
Bellagio- Water show and large conservatory
Caesar's Palace- Stone fountain water and fire show
Mirage- Exploding Volcano!
New York New York- It's a replica of New York! I believe it also has a roller coaster, though I didn't ride it.
The last thing I did was visited the Marvel Museum, which I thought was REALLY cool since I'm into that kind of thing, but it may not be for you.
Overall I would give my trip to Vegas a solid 10/10 rating, and I am going to try to get back there as soon as I can!!
Feel free to post any questions or comments! Thanks<3
